Love is in the air again, travelers! And with the winds of February comes a Niantic favorite: The Valentine’s Day Event. With it arrives a plethora of Pink Pokémon including the worldwide release of Audino, Alomomola, and several Shiny Pokémon. Lucky travelers had the opportunity to hatch shiny Happiny in Eggs and encounter a shiny Chansey in the wild, Field Research tasks, or Raid Battles. Today we’re going to take a look at the data our researchers collected on Chansey!
Researchers encountered 1,221 Chansey across all encounter methods during the event, with 5 of these coming in their shiny form. These data lead to a 99% confidence interval around the shiny rate between 1 in 95 and 1 in 1,130, with an average rate of 1 in 245. This puts the shiny rate for Chansey almost equally likely between the standard, unboosted rate, and the boosted rate that is often used for short events. Unfortunately, we cannot make stronger conclusions with this data set, so this one may have to remain a mystery for now!
