Greetings, travelers! Although new Unova species have just arrived, the Montreal Safari Zone is upon us! Swarms of Yanma, the Clear Wing Pokémon, are zipping and flitting all around the world. As an extra special treat, the Shiny form of Yanma has also been set loose this weekend. Our researchers are all abuzz trying to encounter one of those elusive blue dragonflies, and to figure out if the shiny rates are boosted during this event. All data are collected by researchers who are not attending the event in Montreal. Let’s take a look at what we’ve found so far!
9/21/2019 2:00 UTC Update
Our researchers have been busy tracking down Yanma since the event began on Friday. They have checked 4,052 Yanma and 37 of those checked were that brilliant shiny blue. Using this data along with trends of past Safari Zones, we can infer that the average shiny rate is likely
1 in 150 (99% CI of 1 in 75 – 175)
with no obvious trends in the shiny rate through time. Researchers will continue to monitor shiny rates for the duration of the event, and we will keep you abreast of any changes we might spot. Thanks for reading, travelers – until we meet again on the road!
